If the two selections now meet again, it follows a very lackluster first round from the South Koreans, which gave them a tougher part of the schedule than they expected. South Korea, who finished second in their group after one win and two draws, were given a Round of 16 match against South Korea, one of the favorites in this 2024 Asian Cup edition of Saudi Arabia. Compatriots Heung-min Son's forceps win on penalties showed the South Koreans have character and, although they are struggling to gain the upper hand, they are still undefeated in the tournament. But can they keep it up against Australia, another contender for the ultimate victory in this tournament? The Socceroos are committed to this 2024 Asian Cup. Australia had little trouble defeating the Indonesian side in their group, having grabbed 2 quick wins in the first and allowing a final draw to allow the return of coach Graham Arnold. 16 (4-0). It was a good warm-up for the Australians, but they know they need to raise the level of their game even more during this 1/8 final against the South Korean team.
