Pink Glasses raises $126,000 for cancer research

Last May, the group Les Spectacles roses, made up of Marie-Natalie Genest, Tracy Ann Powers, Stephanie Hamel and Nathalie Mellot, took part in an Amalfi Coast excursion organized by the Society for Research on Cancer (SRC). After deciding to triple their initial goal and receiving help from their friend Patrick Charlebois, winner of the North Pole Marathon, to raise funds, Les Lunettes Roses donated $126,507 to the SRC.

“This amount raised for research is invaluable to us because we know what it means to lose someone close to us to cancer. We set ourselves the challenge of raising $50,000 for research as part of the Cancer Challenge. Because this amount was raised so quickly, we knew The SRC’s needs are always increasing to enhance research. “That is why we decided to continue fundraising,” said Les Lunettes Roses.

They would also like to thank all the donors who contributed to the fundraiser.

“Last year, we were amazed at how quickly the $50,000 was raised. A true outpouring of generosity crossed the Morrissey River, and today, we remain so grateful to be able to support cancer research thanks to donations from individuals and companies who have chosen this cause.

Remember, this group of friends was deeply affected by cancer, while their dear friend Caroline Gauthier passed away from colon cancer in July 2022. That’s why her daughter, Myriam LePage, joined Rose-Colored Glasses to take part in the journey. In addition, one of the group members, Marie-Natalie, had to deal with radiation therapy, chemotherapy and undergo surgery for a brain tumor.
