Denver, Col. – Nathan MacKinnon had another prolific night, collecting two goals and two assists to help the Colorado Avalanche dominate the Chicago Blackhawks 5-0 on Monday night at Ball Arena.
MacKinnon had a total of 39 goals and 66 assists for a total of 105 points in 63 games. ex aequo With Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning at the top of the NHL scoring column.
Their closest chaser is Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid with 97 points.
Cale Makar scored his 14th goal of the season and added an assist. The 25-year-old star defender has not scored a goal in his last 11 matches, a streak dating back to February 6.
By assisting on MacKinnon's goal in the first period, Makar passed Tyson Barrie for the most assists in an Avalanche uniform (233).
Barry achieved this in 484 matches, while Makar exceeded the number in 295 matches.
Despite his young age, Colorado's No. 8 is now at the top of Denver's FC history in terms of goals, assists and points scored by a goaltender.
Jonathan Drouin (11) and Zach Parise (4) also scored for the Avalanche (38-20-7) at the expense of Petr Mrazek.
Justus Anonen automatically started for the second time in a week against the same Hawks (15-42-5). For the second time, the Finnish goaltender achieved an elimination against the worst team in the NHL standings.
Chicago rookie Connor Bedard had a rough night. The young phenom registered a -3 margin, putting two shots on goal.
The Avalanche, which sits in third place in the Central Division, two points behind the Dallas Stars and Winnipeg Jets, have a sparkling 24-6-0 record in front of their home fans this season.
