The Carolina Hurricanes signed defenseman Dmitry Orlov.

Orloff decided to agree to a short-term contract, something he was unwilling to do when it was rumored that he was negotiating with the Washington Capitals. Orlov agreed to a two-year contract with an average annual salary of $7.5 million.

The 31-year-old Orlov spent the final season of a six-year contract averaging $5.1 million in 2022-23.

Last season, Orloff took advantage of his stay in Boston to showcase an offensive potential that has never been discovered since the start of his NHL career in 2011.

Orloff scored 17 points in 23 regular season games for the Bruins and finished his playoff career with eight assists in seven games.

Orlov won the Stanley Cup with the Capitals in 2018.

Forward Michael Bunting has agreed a three-year deal with the Carolina Hurricanes, according to insider James Nichols.

Our collaborator, Pierre Lebrun, has indicated that the agreement will bring him $4.5 million annually.

Bunting’s career really took off in 2021, when he joined the Maple Leafs and their offensive core. His 63 points in 79 games in 2021-2022 earned him a Calder Award nomination.

Bunting’s offensive production found himself on the downward slope last season, with 23 goals and 49 points.

The Dorsey inherited a quieter run into the playoffs, with just two points in seven games. His three-match ban, however, did not help his case.

At the age of 27, Bunting would find himself with a third team, having also donned the colors of the Arizona Coyotes.
