More from Kayden Gaul, Jordan Harris and Justin Barron

Currently, the Canadian has four veterans in his defensive arm. We’re talking about Mike Matheson, Joel Edmondson, David Savard, and Chris Weidman. The latter will not necessarily play every day.

Ideally, Kent Hughes would add an experienced defensive man (right) to help out a bit. However, at this time, that is not the case.

This means that two or three places will be filled by young people. Immediately, the names Jordan Harris, Kaiden Guhle and Justin Barron come to mind. CH’s priorities will be – and for good reason.

But as we know, they may need to step back, during the season, go and play at Laval a little bit. And in such a case, without the most sought-after warriors, it may be necessary to compensate internally.

And that’s where I want to go because the club in Laval has certain resources to get you playing time.

On top of that, even if the young trio is doing well, there are guys who will push and want to have their chance at the top with the Canadian. There will be internal conflict at this level and CH will have to make way for the paying players. And unlike the attackers, the defenders will have space.

Who will be these youngsters, who will have to take advantage of the vicissitudes of the season – including injuries – to stand out?

Andrew Zadarnowski recently drew up a potential Laval Rocket list There are many names of men who may wish their luck in the city.

In fact, in addition to the young trio that we talk about a lot, six defenders should play at Laval this season with a contract that allows them to play for the Canadians if necessary.

Which?

  • Gianni Fairbrother (21)
  • Matthias Norlender (22 years old)
  • Corey Scheunemann (27)
  • Arber Xhekaj (21 years old)
  • Madison Boy (27)
  • Otto Liskinen (25 years old)

There are obviously a little bit older veterans (and I think Scheunemann might be one of the people who will have a chance somewhere this year under Martin St. Louis), but of the guys who could be called up, there are three. 22 and under. So they are young people with hope in CH.

Norlinder has things to prove, Fairbrother still has to improve and Xhekaj will have to get used to the professional game, but the three left-handers are youngsters in the organization with interesting and different origins.

A big start to the season of them (presumably in Laval) will put them on a map And I think it’s not impossible to believe that along the way, at least one of them might have a chance.
