The study published in August in Psychiatric researchIt was found that people who drink two to three cups of coffee daily have a lower risk of depression and anxiety.

People who drank one or two cups of coffee daily were less likely to suffer from depression and anxiety. However, this was not to the same extent as individuals who consumed two to three cups per day, according to the study.

On the other hand, coffee lovers who drank more than six cups of coffee a day were more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety.

Coffee and mental health

The researchers said that caffeine, a main ingredient in coffee, is the factor that affects mental health.

The study included 152,821 people who completed online mental health questionnaires as part of the UK Biobank dataset.

Data on coffee consumption were obtained from online questionnaires completed between 2006 and 2010, while data on mental disorders came from a variety of sources, according to the study.

The results showed that 81% of the participants drank coffee. Of this percentage, 41% drank two to three cups per day, 28% drank one cup and the rest drank more than three.
