Four-time Canadian curling champion Brian Harris has been temporarily suspended after testing positive for ligandrol.
However, the 32-year-old athlete told CBC Sports that she will appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), arguing that she deliberately did not take the substance.
I was completely surprised and devastated when I learned of the positive result.
Harris said in a statement sent to CBC Sports. As someone who doesn't take supplements and hesitates to even take Advil or Tylenol, I couldn't believe this was happening to me.
Harris, Einarson's number one, was sidelined at the Tournament of Hearts last month, hours before her team began its title defence.
I was disappointed that I wasn't able to compete in the Tournament of Hearts and help my teammates defend our title. Ligandrol, which is used to increase energy and muscle growth, is banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Manitoba took her anti-doping test on January 24 and was informed of the results on February 15. Last week, Sample B confirmed the positivity of the first result.

All athletes go through a process of testing, education and prevention. As a former athlete, you have sympathy for anyone going through a situation like this. However, at Curling Canada we believe in clean sport and that is why we fully support the World Anti-Doping Code.
Harris has also been supported by Einarson, who she has played with since the 2018-19 season.

Christine Karowaki will take over for Harris on the team until he returns.
Harris' situation is reminiscent of that of canoeist Lawrence Vincent Lapointe in 2020. She then submitted samples that revealed the presence of ligandrol.
Vincent Lapointe appealed the ruling and won after it was proven that his partner at the time passed the material to him. She was finally able to participate in the Tokyo Games, where she won two medals.
