Mattress, car seat, paint pan, construction cloth: the list of things that Brevian employees, involved in the clean-up activity, discovered at an illegal landfill in Beauport on Thursday, was surprising.
The two sites that underwent this major clean-up are located in Chemin du Lac-des-Roches and near Place Bellavance. They were recognized by Quebec City and PurNat. In three hours, at least 15 tons of waste were collected.
“These sites need a little love. We might think that there might be an environmental center not far away, and sometimes it is far away when we go to carry our things,” said Veronique Chayer, communications director at Previan, a high-tech company.
Throughout the morning, the employees, who participated in this activity to give back to the community, cleaned up by recovering all kinds of objects abandoned in nature without any embarrassment.
M added. “We hope to do good and give back a little piece of forest to the people.”I Cheer.
Two buses were rented to transport employees including computer engineers, accountants, mechanical engineers, and others. Who left the office temporarily.
According to the Finance Director, Louis-Georges Goffin, everyone was very happy to participate in this major operation.
“We feel there is a lot of enthusiasm. We are here to work for our environment and for our planet,” Mr. Goffin added.
He continued: “We collect waste to send it to the right place.”
According to PurNat, which supervised the activity, “the danger of illegal dumping is widespread throughout America and throughout the planet.” For example, the average lifespan of a plastic bag is 400 to 500 years, and it can be up to 1,000 years for a plastic bottle.
