A new living space in the heart of the city

Since the 1960s, the municipal center on rue Jean Jaurès has been a key place in Oukamville life. Numerous events, both public and private, have been organized within it… Therefore, as part of the “Heart of the City” process, which is particularly characterized by the new development extending from the Town Hall to the Old Church, the municipality made the choice to build a room more adapted to current standards. In fact, the old municipal centre, which consumes a lot of energy, is inefficient and outdated, is falling into disrepair… Works carried out several months ago, opposite the old center and behind the presbytery, have recently seen the completion of a new infrastructure. Area 400 m2.

“A place with a low carbon footprint, equipped with innovative design and technologies, part of an exemplary approach to environmental and energy performance, aiming at the Certivéa labeling,” emphasized Gérard André, Mayor of the city of Oakhamville, during the inauguration of the Josephine-Baker space (the name chosen by the residents of Oakhamville).

An event honored by the presence of Hélène Lestarquet, Deputy Prefect of the city of Haute-Garonne, Sandrine Florius, Canton Councilor of Castelgenest who represents the President of the Department of Haute-Garonne, and Jean-François Portarieu, Deputy. This project, consisting of three modular rooms suitable for large or small audiences, large or more intimate events, was made possible thanks to several funders. Thus, this new instrument was financed by the department of Haute-Garonne in the amount of 300,000 euros, by the state in the amount of 234,471 euros, by the competition fund of Toulouse Métropole in the amount of 151,615 euros and self-financing by the municipality in the amount of 1,348,989.78 euros. At the end of the speeches, a cocktail party was given to the large association made up especially of association leaders who, without a doubt, will be able to benefit from this new living space for the associations and all residents of Oakville. Note that this inauguration took place in the presence of an elected official and a delegation from Fossalta di Portogruaro, a twin town with Ocampville, invited for this occasion.
