In Quebec, as elsewhere, this trend has been confirmed: Almost all new cases of COVID-19 and its variants have been detected among those who have avoided the vaccine or who have not yet been fully vaccinated.

Authorities released a vaccine status update for the new confirmed cases Thursday morning.
As of July 17, of the 8,000 confirmed cases of infection in Quebec over an eight-week period, 98% had not been doubly vaccinated. More than three-quarters of these people have not yet been vaccinated or received their first dose less than 14 days ago.
Listen to the interview of the immunology researcher at the University of Montreal Medical School, André Villette, with Vincent Dessauault on QUB Radio:
A sign of a need for a second dose, 22% of Quebecers who contracted the virus during the same period received their first injection for more than two weeks. For four weeks, 95% of new cases were not adequately vaccinated.
Similar proportions have been observed among people hospitalized with COVID-19.
These numbers are staggering. They have shown the importance of two-dose vaccination, so far, the Minister of Health, Christian Duby, commented on Twitter.
The daily report in Quebec showed 99 new infections, less than the previous day. We regret three new deaths, while no further loss of life was reported on Wednesday.
