$3,000 fines imposed on 3 food establishments in Laval

Three restaurants and food establishments in Laval received a fine from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) in recent weeks.

The amount of crimes announced since November 27 amounts to $3,000.

The Megana Laval Hotel, located at 253 Concorde Street, was fined $1,000 because the building was not free of all types of animals, including rodents and insects, or their droppings. The crime allegedly occurred in June 2022, but the sentence was handed down in December.

Wilfrid Pasta Bar, located at 1974 Le Corbusier Boulevard, also received a $1,000 fine. This is rather “to have a product that can be changed by heat without being cooled, without delay or without being constantly maintained at an internal and ambient temperature not exceeding 4 ° C”, we can read on the MAPAQ website.

The St. Maarten pastry shop was also fined $1,000 for the same violation. The food establishment is located at 2493 Saint-Martin Boulevard West.

$14,500 in fines for a bakery

In total, around thirty Laval restaurants were targeted by MAPAQ for violations during 2023.

Five other restaurants and food establishments were also targeted in September and October.

Meilleure Qualité Chomedey LTEE bakery was the department’s main target with fines totaling $14,500. The crimes date back to 2021 and 2022, but the ruling was issued in September. The business, which was located at 4627 Samson Boulevard, has since closed its doors.

One of the most notable violations is that the site is not free of all types of animals, including rodents, insects, and their droppings. The bakery also did not use equipment or facilities in good condition so as not to contaminate the products.
