VINCI wins contract to modernize dam near Brisbane in Australia
- Upgrade and Modernization of Gresbrook Dam, Toowoomba, Queensland
- Increasing flood resistance for greater climate resilience
- A project worth more than 86 million euros
Seymour White, a subsidiary of VINCI Construction in Australia, will work with engineering firm SMEC to modernize the Cressbrook Dam, located in the Toowoomba region, a hundred kilometers from Brisbane. An “alliance” type contract brings together the designer-builder team and the client, Toowoomba Regional Council.
The project serves a dual purpose: increasing the capacity of the dam to protect the Toowoomba region from flooding and strengthening the climate resilience of the infrastructure.
The nearly two-year project will include renovating access roads, widening the concrete spillway, upgrading the dam’s filtration system and raising the crest of the dam.
Finally, Seymour White wants to use a larger ecosystem, including recycling materials to build the dam wall and technological upgrades that encourage natural migration of fish.
