“Kherson, in the evening. About 140 civilians are waiting at the station for the evacuation train to leave. Then the enemy began intense bombardment of the city,” Igor Klimenko said on Telegram.

He added that a police officer was killed and two civilians and two police officers were injured by shrapnel.

For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that “many civilians were there” at the time of the raid. He added: “All (emergency) services are now on site.”

Ukrainian Railways Ukrzaliznytsia reported on Telegram that the station and train were damaged.

She stressed that “the situation is under control and the railways are ready to continue work.”

The city of Kherson was occupied for several months by the Russian army in 2022 before withdrawing across the Dnieper River, with each side now controlling a bank.

Since then, the city has been regularly targeted by deadly Russian bombing.

The head of the Kherson Military Administration, Roman Mrochko, reported earlier Tuesday about several Russian bombings of the city in the past 24 hours, which he said resulted in four people being injured, one of them in serious condition.
