Joe Schmidt is the new Wallabies coach. Rugby Australia announced in a press release that the New Zealander would replace Eddie Jones, while Australia suffered a historic blow during the last World Cup, being relegated from the Hens stages for the first time in its history. At 58, Schmidt became only the third non-Australian to take the reigns of selection as world champion in 1991 and 1999.
“I know the Wallabies have been through a difficult period and I am keen to see them move forward with improved alignment and clear guidance from Rugby Australia. He won three Six Nations caps with Ireland, announced in a press release. After Super Rugby, the next Tests against Wales are coming soon (in July) and next year's schedule for the British and Irish Lions tour presents many opportunities and challenges which I'm sure will excite the players and staff. »
A member of the New Zealand staff during the last World Cup, Schmidt said Australia will host the next World Cup in 2025 until the British & Irish Lions tour ends in March.
