An “unacceptable and inexcusable” gesture from Austin Watson

Jeremy Lauzon was the victim of an unfortunate gesture from Austin Watson on Thursday at the end of the game.

With less than two seconds left in the game, the Lightning forward fired a powerful shot directly at the foot of the Quebecois player.

Lauzon collapsed on the ice in pain, visibly frustrated by the gesture of his opponent, who received a visit from angry Predators players.

For Renaud Lavoie, this event will be a huge blow to Watson’s reputation.

“This is unacceptable and inexcusable. The throw hit Jeremy Lauzon directly in the foot. Of course he got 10 minutes of bad behavior and a fine. But it’s an injury attempt based solely on frustration,” Lavoie said during his examination section at JiC.

“Austin Watson isn’t a rookie, he’s a veteran who knows exactly what he’s doing. What does it give you to do that? I’m not sure his Lightning teammates are very happy right now. If I’m the Lightning coach, I’m sorry, but he’s not going to play next game.”

Fortunately for Lauzon, he should be able to play in the Predators’ next game and face the Canadian on Sunday in Montreal.
