TLike Alma Linux and Rocky Linux, Oracle is publishing a new update for the Oracle Linux distribution built from Red Hat Enterprise 9.3. On this occasion, the publisher confirms: Oracle’s commitment to open source, keeping Linux free and openwhile ensuring binary compatibility (editor’s note: RHEL, following changes made last summer) to ensure applications run without interruption: ” Oracle Linux sources, binaries, ISOs, and bugs remain free and freely available from the Oracle Linux yum server. »
Remember, Oracle is a stakeholder in… OpenELA project (Open Enterprise Linux Association) which aims to protect binary compatibility with RHEL. The source code was revealed and released in early November.
Updates
Oracle Linux 9 Update 3 Available for Intel and AMD (x86_64) 64-bit and Arm (aarch64) 64-bit platforms. This release continues to be compatible with the corresponding release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 Update 3, as has been the case since the first release in 2006.
Oracle Linux 9 Update 3 comes with the latest kernel options:
- Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (UEK) Update 7, 5.15.0-200.131.27 for x86_64 and aarch64
- Red Hat Compatible Kernel (RHCK), 5.14.0-364 for x86_64
Oracle Linux is now supported Automatic reboot of systems after installing patches Through DNF. OpenSSH applies the SHA-2 algorithm by default to test keys. This improvement avoids the use of weaknesses in the SHA-1 algorithm. Finally, Update 9 version 3 with UEK R7U2 continues to provide support for the btrfs file system.
