To denounce the deadlock in the negotiations, 5,600 or so Revenu Québec professionals will be on strike Friday night and weekend for an unlimited period.
The strike will be in effect Monday through Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m., according to the SPGQ, whose members have been without a collective agreement since April 1, 2020.
Despite the strike, reconciliation sessions will continue, according to the union, which regrets the employer’s refusal to improve the wage offer with an annual increase of 2% for three years 2020, 2021 and 2022.
SPGQ asserts that its proposals are aimed at reducing the overall compensation gap, which can be as high as 30% between professional staff at Revenu Québec and CRA staff.
“The union has noted that RQ representatives have not shown any willingness to discuss conditions that would enhance the attraction and retention of professional employees,” said Guillaume Bouvett, 3rd Vice President of SPGQ.
“So far, SPGQ has seen that the employer’s position is distancing its members from a new collective agreement that allows them to keep pace with wages compared to other public administrations,” said Mr. Beaufret.
