In February 2020, a report from our FBI journalist Felix Seguin arrested former Hydro-Québec architect Guy Huot in the act when he accepted a $500 envelope from a contractor, in exchange for its effect on Hydro Quebec contracts.
The man was quickly stopped without pay, and Yupac launched an investigation.
Despite this disturbing report, Huot now works as a teacher at the Cégep du Vieux Montréal.
He teaches the Building Safety Inspection Technology course which started in March 2022.
Under the guise of anonymity, some students called TVA Nouvelles to testify about their unease after seeing their teacher in an investigative office report.
“We are aware of the file and are currently taking all necessary steps,” says Anne-Louise Savary, Director and General Secretary of Cégep.
The manager emphasizes that the primary concern remains the quality of the training provided to the students and that they will not discuss the employee file publicly.
Mr Hoot’s lawyer, Anna Alexandre Paradis, also insisted that his client was “not the subject of criminal charges”, and that they “would not comment further”.
The investigation by UPAC is still ongoing.
