Anaheim Ducks’ rookie forward Trevor Zegras continued to impress Friday, scoring a second Michigan-inspired goal against the Arizona Coyotes.
The 21-year-old midfielder came quickly behind the net before slashing the ball into the blade of the baton and bluffing goalkeeper Karel Wemilka with his 17th goal of the season.
Zegras even allowed himself to score despite the presence of teammate Sonny Milano, who was somewhat cut his way between the back of the net and the opening left hole by Vejmelka.
“I saw the play and no one was behind the net. So I got the disc and the only person in my way was Sonny and that was funny,” Zegras said after the first period.
On January 27, the American who picked up ninth in the 2019 draft stunned Samuel Montembolt to score an almost identical goal.
It was also the 50th point for Zagres, in their 63rd game of the season. His goal gave the ducks a 3-0 lead in the first half.
The Ducks eventually won 5-0, as Anthony Stollars scored the closing, his third of the season, with 22 saves.
Anaheim also ended its 11-game winning streak (0-8-3).
In general, coyotes (21-42-5) remained attached to the Montreal Canadiens at last. The two teams played the same number of matches, 68.
After the Zegras network in January, Carolina Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov, who had already scored with the move, asked who would be able to score another such goal.
Finally, it was the duck striker who presented himself with this new offensive gem.
Beautiful goal !! Let’s see who pulls the next 👀 https://t.co/4UAHmB8ZAE
