Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson will have a hearing before the Department of Player Safety on Saturday.
Anderson must explain the elbow he gave Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine on Friday night.
With the Flames trailing 3-1 late in the game, Anderson hard-hit Laine in the head after the latter had just gotten rid of the ball at his team’s blue line.
Officially, Laine will miss tonight’s game against the Minnesota Wild due to an upper body injury. His health condition will be re-evaluated daily.
Foodie claimed by predators
The Nashville Predators have claimed forward Liam Foudy on waivers.
Foudy’s name was added there by the Blue Jackets on Friday.
The former Blue Jackets 2018 first-round pick has played just one game since the start of the season, scoring no points.
In 90 matches, Foudy scored 7 goals and provided 12 assists.
Swords without Benson and Levy
Zach Benson and Devon Levy are coming off pain and both players won’t be in the Buffalo Sabers lineup against the New Yorkers tonight.
Pinson has two points in four games so far this season, while Levy has a 3.26 goals-against average and an .890 save percentage, also in four games.
In Levi’s absence, Eric Comrie will defend the Sabers cage.
Mikheev finally returned to work
Vancouver Canucks forward Ilya Mikheyev will play his first game of the season tonight against the Florida Panthers.
Mikheyev last played on January 27, 2023. He then tore his anterior cruciate ligament, which required surgery.
In 46 games last season, Mikheyev scored 13 goals and collected 15 assists.
Gutman in the American League
The Chicago Blackhawks have moved forward Cole Gutman to their American Hockey League affiliate, Rockford.
Guttman has scored in three games since the start of the season, but has been ruled out for the Blackhawks’ last two games.
In 17 career games. Guttman has five goals and two assists.
