As a result, the men were not spared by the draw. Jérôme Daret's men fell 100% with the island teams. They got New Zealand, Fiji and Samoa. The French Sevens are familiar to the Fijians as it is the third time in a row that the two nations have fallen in the same group, after Dubai and Cape Town. Fiji finished third and the All Blacks fifth in the last tournament in South Africa. As a reminder, the French team finished eighth in the tournament.

Women, for their part, come with a more approachable draw than men. The French 7 fall alongside Fiji, Brazil and Spain. However, we should not underestimate their future opponents. The Fijians finished fifth, the Brazilians tenth and the Spanish eleventh in the last HSBC Sevens tournament.
