A Wyoming judge blocks a law banning the abortion pill

Wyoming State Judge blocked A law banning abortion pills in that state that was set to go into effect July 1. It is the first law of its kind to be passed in the United States and has been challenged in court. Teton County Judge Melissa Owens says prosecutors failed to demonstrate that allowing the ban to be implemented on schedule would not harm plaintiffs before their case was not heard.

Other US states have effectively banned the abortion pill by banning abortion in general. Wyoming became the first US state in March to specifically ban the abortion pill.

Abortion remains legal in Wyoming after the same judge’s decision to block a law banning abortion in nearly all circumstances in the state was challenged in court.

This legal battle must take into account a change in Wyoming’s constitution dating back to 2012 that states that Wyoming residents have the right to make their own health care decisions.
