A North Carolina woman won 2 million dollars in the lottery after purchasing a lottery ticket that she did not want to participate in.
Elizabeth Johnson scrambled to buy her ticket to the Powerball lottery Wednesday night, but the woman missed the deadline by a minute, according to NC Education Lottery officials.
However, his ticket was still valid for another draw that took place three days later and earned him $ 2 million, according to CNN.
The five numbers on his ticket were identical to those on the Million Dollar Draw. The prize is doubled when the double ball x2 is drawn. Lottery authorities say the odds of getting five correct numbers are 1 in 11.6 million.
“It was a real shock! When I got a message telling me I won, I said to myself, ‘But I didn’t participate,’” says M.I Johnson.
Altogether, this mom will get $ 1,415,001 after taxes. Elizabeth Johnson plans to buy a house and go on a trip.
“The kids want to go to Disneyland. We weren’t there before, and now we’re going.”
