World Championship: Slovakia beat France 4-2

Juraj Slavkovski had an assist in Slovakia's 4-2 win over France on Saturday at the World Hockey Championships. He currently has four tournament assists in five matches.

Pavol Regenda opened the scoring for the Slovaks at the end of the first half, then Libor Hodasek doubled his team's lead at the start of the second half after passes from Simon Nemec and Slavkovski. Hodasek scored his second goal of the match a few minutes later and Mario German scored Slovakia's fourth goal in the third period.

The Slovak national team, which currently ranks third in Group B, will face Latvia on Sunday.

Sweden proposes to target Latvia

Sweden received a huge penalty kick before scoring three goals in 26 seconds in the second period and beating Latvia 7-2 on Saturday to confirm its participation in the knockout round of the World Hockey Championship.

The Swedish team, which had not fallen behind since the beginning of the tournament, maintained its perfect record after five matches and dominated the second group.

Latvia equalized 2-2 in the second half in Ostrava, but were unable to convert their chance when Rasmus Dallin received a huge penalty and a match misconduct for assault. The Buffalo Sabers defenseman opened the scoring in the first half for Sweden.

Fabian Zetterlund then scored twice within 17 seconds in the second half. Nine seconds later, Joel Eriksson Ek made it 5-2. Marcus Johansson scored a goal and two assists.

The Swedes, who had never trailed since the start of the tournament, maintained their perfect record after 5 matches.

Switzerland crushes Denmark

In Prague, Switzerland also confirmed its participation in the qualifiers thanks to its 8-0 victory over Denmark. Kevin Fiala led the charge with two goals and an assist.

Nico Hischier opened the scoring and added two assists.

This victory allowed Switzerland to move to the top of Group A with 14 points. The result also confirmed Canada's participation in the elimination round.

Later in Group A, Canada beat Finland 5-3. The Czech Republic faced Great Britain trying to avoid relegation.

In the second group, Germany defeated Poland 4-2, achieving its fourth victory since the start of the tournament.
