Windows requires an account to be created during installation. This can be an online account or a local account. For several years, Microsoft has been trying to hide the latter. A new step has just been taken.
Since the launch of Windows 11, the Home edition of the operating system requires a Microsoft account and an Internet connection to install it. Redmond removed the local account option when setting up windows for the first time. Fortunately, some solutions exist. The simplest is to disconnect the device from the Internet during the installation process.
Windows 11 Pro, more option to create a local account
The Latest Preview of Windows 11 It introduces a major change in this regard. The same method is now applied to the “Pro” version. In short, if you want to install Windows 11 Professional, you need a Microsoft account and an internet connection. Usually, the solution to disconnect the device from the Internet during the installation process can circumvent this situation.
We don’t have a specific date for when this important change will take effect for the general public. Currently, this only affects PCs registered in the DEV channel of the Windows Insider Program.
Microsoft explains
Similar to the Windows 11 Home edition, the Windows 11 Professional edition now requires an Internet connection during initial device setup (OOBE). If you choose to configure the device for personal use, the MSA will also be required to configure. “
Microsoft promised to deliver faster improvements. It is therefore not excluded that this new ‘limitation’ will be introduced as part of the quality update. This means that it may arrive in the next few months before the first feature update is released. It is supposed to land next fall.
