Whoopi Goldberg apologizes for using a term deemed offensive

Whoopi Goldberg has apologized for using a term deemed offensive on her talk show the view.

When discussing former US President Donald Trump’s supposed relationship with Stormy Daniels on Wednesday’s episode of her show, the actress referred to “people who still think he did (steal) one way or another” in the 2020 election.

However, it used the English word “gypped” which has negative connotations towards people of gypsy descent and is now considered archaic and imitative.

After the episode aired, the producers uploaded a video in which she apologized.

The 67-year-old star said: “You know when you’re at a certain age you use words you knew as a kid or remember saying, and that’s what I did today that I shouldn’t have done. I should have thought about it a little bit more before I said it but I didn’t.” I should have said the word ‘scam’ and used another word and I’m really sorry.”

This is not the first time that the American star has been criticized for some of his statements the view.

Whoopi Goldberg was suspended from the program for two weeks in early 2022 after she said the Holocaust was not based on the origin of the victims but was a matter of “male brutality”.
