USA: The famous “Hollywood cat” euthanized in Los Angeles

No more “Hollywood Cat”: The most famous puma was killed in Los Angeles on Saturday, wildlife officials said.

The old feline, around eleven years old, was known to roam Hollywood Heights and the famous Giant Hillside Mark, hence his nickname over time.

The officers had decided at the beginning of December to arrest him due to his unpredictable behaviour, possibly as a result of a car collision.

According to a statement from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, veterinarians determined he had injuries to his head and right eye and damage to internal organs.

The cougar was also ill with skinny kidneys and suffering from skin infections and arthritis.

“The most difficult, yet merciful, decision was to end his suffering and stress by ending his life,” the statement reads, adding, “P-22 (animal codename, editor’s note) (Will) had (Will) an extraordinary life and won the hearts of the people of Los Angeles.” and more.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom praised the “incredible life” of the famous big cat, which has “enthralled people all over the world.”

Griffith Park, a 23-square-kilometre natural island where the animal will likely live for a decade, is surrounded by highways and urban sprawl.

Experts were impressed by the epic journey of the P-22, which had to cross two major Los Angeles freeways to get to the park in 2012.

In a report on the animal, the National Park Service lamented that Griffith Park was too small to house another mountain lion and that (P-22) was “unlikely to find love.”

The “Hollywood Cat” became famous by appearing several times to the public, on video or in the flesh.
