In the U.S. state of Colorado on Monday, U.S. police said the motive of the gunman was unknown.
On Monday afternoon, the police told the police on the midnight press conference that the person was shot in many places in Denver and Lakwood.
The gunman first shot and killed two women and a man in Denver, injuring another.
He then went to Lakewood, where he shot one and wounded another, police said.
Using information from the first attack, Lakewood authorities were able to identify the culprit, and he moved back.
“Shots were then exchanged with our agents” and “the shooter (…) was shot,” said Lockwood police spokesman John Romero, who said the shooter was “pronounced dead at the scene.”
During the shooting, a Lockheed police officer was shot and wounded. “This officer is currently undergoing surgery at the hospital,” Romero said.
The motive of the shooter is not known and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
In the United States, where the right to own a firearm is constitutionally guaranteed, the number of victims of gunfire continues to rise.
