United Kingdom: After five disappearances, a cat was found on a sea platform

Five years after a cat went missing and found its owner, at the end of a voyage it was taken by helicopter to a Scottish maritime base, pointing to the humane community.

In the east of Scotland, the SCPA of Scotland said in a statement that “we have successfully recovered a cat found in a seawater depot in a shipping container from Peterhead.”

The animal, which was rescued on April 22, benefited from a “private return by helicopter”.

It was found in a container off the coast of Scotland.

“We do not know how the cat got there, but we went to the heliport this morning to pick it up,” said Amy Findley, a member of the Scottish SPCA.

In recent years, the cat has been making frequent visits to Peterhead Prison, where prison staff have fed him and nicknamed him ‘One Eye Joe’. But when his microchip was tested, the humane community discovered that his real name was ‘Dexter’ and that he had been missing for five years.

“We are delighted that he was well cared for at the time of his disappearance, but we are still delighted to be able to reconnect him with his original owner through his microchip,” the association explains.
