London | Ford, an American automaker, will invest 30 230 million in a factory in the UK to manufacture parts to electrify its vehicles.
The Hollywood plant in the North of England, with a contribution from the UK Automotive Transformation Fund, is expected to ‘transform’ to build a unit for future Ford electric vehicles in Europe, with initial production expected in 2024.
United Nations Secretary-General Sharon Graham said in a statement on Monday that “this is good news for Hollywood’s highly skilled workers as it protects the future of the plant.”
United adds that 500 jobs will be maintained in Hollywood through the injection of funds that will “create 400 to 700 jobs”.
Ford announced at the end of September that it would accelerate its power conversion and create four factories in the United States with the invention of its South Korean partner SK, signaling an investment of $ 11.4 billion with 11,000 jobs by the end of the day by 2025.
Ford has revised its electric naval targets as it now expects 40 to 50% of its global sales volume to be fully electric by 2030.
In the UK, sales of new petrol or diesel vehicles will be banned from 2030 as part of the country’s commitment to carbon neutralization by 2030.
