“The Mountain Woke Me” is the theme of the sixth meeting of the “Mountain of Common Solidarity” organized by Solidaires 82-4000 and ATD Quart-Monde on Saturday 11 September in La Grave. This event, open to all, takes place on the Girose Glacier in La Grave. The meeting takes place at 8 am in front of the Glaciers de La Meije cable car and will end the day at around 6 pm. The goal of this event is to share a day of mountain climbing with people experiencing extreme poverty and social exclusion.
Expect 200 people
At least 200 people are expected: association beneficiaries, high mountain guides, famous mountaineers, and other mountain enthusiasts. This event will also welcome the personalities working alongside 82-4000 Solidere to transform the mountain into a space of solidarity and sharing.
In the program for this day, mountain climbing with the discovery of the Jeros glacier, a festival with art and sports workshops, a screening of a film and testimonies from people living in very difficult socio-economic situations who discovered the mountain with 82-4000 Solidaires. It is also a showcase of solidarity initiatives to discover social actors and mountain solidarity, and finally a plenary session in the form of a “theater forum” with presentations by mountaineers and personalities.
Personal mountain equipment to bring is: adjustable shoes, sunglasses, gloves, warm clothing, tight straps, belt and helmet if possible.
