With a mandate adopted unanimously, the Canadian Federation of Public Employees (CUPE2056) condemns the slow pace of negotiations to renew the collective agreement that has expired 1is being June 2020.

The FTQ’s union regrets little progress in talks, despite several union concessions, while points still falter on issues of salaries and working conditions.

It is particularly seeking to revise the salary scales, due to a precedent set in 2020 when an administrative assistant was hired with an out-of-convention salary and reassessed upwards, which created a salary gap in relation to research specialist jobs that had yet to be filled.

“The administrative party is denying its promises and even going so far as to question the veracity of the words and documents that the union has presented as evidence of these exchanges at the negotiating table,” said Julie Brault, CUPE’s union counselor.

“This situation significantly affects the confidence of employees towards FQPPU,” Al-Sayed added.I Brault.
