The building that constitutes the greatest legacy of the 350th anniversary of Varennes, the multifunctional center “Espace des Bâtisseurs” has become a geographical name that, according to the city, symbolizes the citizens of Varenne, their history and the development of the city. The elected officials of Varennes officially endorsed the new name last Monday evening during the general meeting in March. During the same evening, Mayor Martin Dambus, without promising to do so, indicated that the official opening of the multifunctional building was ideally scheduled for the end of April. Two weeks ago, the city awarded a contract worth nearly $200,000 to purchase furniture, but it will be several weeks before delivery.
The Espace des Bâtisseurs will become the busiest building in Varennes. All leisure and entertainment services will be located there and citizens will be able to practice many sports, cultural and community activities in addition to participating in major events. Built over three floors, the building houses, among other things, a CLSC test center, a double gymnasium, a martial arts dojo, a dance studio, offices for organizations, a fitted kitchen, and a reception room for 250 people, among others.
