The Financial Supervisory Authority launches the “Choose safe food in the European Union” campaign on World Food Safety Day

Our food comes in many forms. Some foods are fatty. Others are small. Some are beautiful and shiny. Others, not so much. Some are delicious. Others…it’s a matter of taste! But whether you like it or not and no matter where it comes from, you can in any case be sure that your food is free. Danger. Thanks to the science.

European consumers are among the best preserved and the best information in the world about the risks associated with the food chain. The EU food safety system gives every European citizen the right to know how the food they consume is produced, processed, packaged, labeled and sold. Under this system, EFSA experts review the impartiality of the available data and scientific studies to assess the potential risks associated with the diet. And in an interconnected food chain, the European Financial Supervisory Authority collaborates with national food safety authorities across Europe, with national partners and international organisations, so that Europeans can enjoy their meals with peace of mind.

On this World Food Safety Day, the FSA is launching its #EUChooseSafeFood communication campaign that will run throughout the summer of 2021. This campaign aims to raise awareness of the science behind our food and tell the story of the scientists working to keep them safe. . Its overall goal is to encourage citizens to think critically about their daily food choices.
