Early reports of UK sales for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are out, and the game appears to be off to a fantastic start.
Tears of the Kingdom is already the eighth best-selling Zelda game, having already surpassed Skyward Sword, The Wind Waker and A Link Between Worlds. It’s important to note that these figures are based on box sales only, with Nintendo’s numerical data not taken into account. Had the digital data been taken into account, the tears at the Kingdom debut would have been even more significant.
Hogwarts Legacy was previously the UK’s biggest boxed game release of the year. However, that honor now belongs to The Legend of Zelda: Kingdom Tears. Tears of the Kingdom is already the fourth highest grossing Zelda game of all time. It sits behind Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess.
Tears of the Kingdom managed to achieve a 173% bigger release than Breath of the Wild. However, it wasn’t the biggest Switch release — that accolade still goes to Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. Tears of the Kingdom is just below.
