Heartbreak for Australian flyhalf Blake Austin who had to return to Australia without a club.
English history is over for Blake Austin and his family. The 32-year-old half, who came under Warrington’s colors in 2019, returns to the country.
After three seasons with the Wolves and two with the Rhinos, Blake Austin had a particularly eventful end to last season. Loaned to Castleford Tigers with immediate effect at the end of the season, with the aim of saving them from relegation, Leeds have not made him return.
The Parramatta native later entered into talks with promotion rivals Featherstone and the two parties were able to sign a deal which would come into effect when the club was promoted to Super League.
However, fate and London Broncos eliminated Featherstone in the Championship semi-finals, earning promotion to Super League and depriving the club of five recruits, including Blake Austin.
In an Instagram post, Blake Austin wrote, “Shattered for leaving a little early, […] A few months before we got our nationality.
