Street Fighter 6: Evolution from 1987 to 2023, with or without virtual reality

Street Fighter 6: Evolution from 1987 to 2023, with or without virtual reality

The video game prodigy, the fighters are looking younger over the years – and they still don’t have the slightest scratch. The question above all: is a good Street Fighter 1987 player still a good Street Fighter 6 player in 2023?

Street Fighter 6 was released on June 2 on PC and consoles (PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series, Windows) and is thus the sixth installment in a series that began in 1987; The previous installment, Street Fighter 5, dates back to 2016. With its longevity, the franchise has obviously known too many consoles, from the 68000 arcade system to PlayStation 5 via Atari ST, PlayStation 2 or even PlayStation 4 and Xbox 360. Thus this Street Fighter series bears witness well to the graphic and technical developments of our machines for over 35 years; Developments tracked in the video below suggested by ElAnalistaDeBits channel.

The author of another channel, whose videos we sometimes feature, Cycu1, did a similar exercise but with a head-on in Street Fighter 6 / Street Fighter 5.

If these developments are not enough for you and you want to be a full-fledged gamer of 2023, know that Bray Dog introduces a virtual reality mode for Street Fighter 6 via a new version of the RE Engine Framework Mod, available at github. A welcome addition for VR headset owners and fighting game enthusiasts; Oddly enough, Street Fighter 6 offers no VR mode, regardless of platform.

Street Fighter 6 has been well received. On Steam, it has “very positive” overall ratings based on just over 3,500 reviews. It remains to be seen if, as in Street Fighter II, the computer can still cheat without any hesitation…

In terms of hardware configuration, Capcom’s title doesn’t seem too difficult. Minimum configuration refers to Intel Core i5-7500 / AMD Ryzen 3 1200 processor associated with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 / Radeon RX 580 graphics card and 8 GB of RAM. Ideally, an Intel Core i7 8700 / AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 / AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card, 16 GB of RAM.
