At the end of the NYSE, the index fell 2.06% to hit a 1-month low, while the index fell 2.00%, and the index fell 2.50%.
The best performer of the session for the index was credited to Walmart Inc. (NYSE: ) which rose 0.61% or 0.89 points to settle at 147.33. In second place we saw Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE: ) which lost 0.07% or 0.10 points to 139.91. Rounding out the top three were The Travelers Companies Inc (NYSE: ) with decline of 0.27% or 0.50 points.
Home Depot Inc (NYSE: ) was the worst performer of the session, losing 7.06% or 22.45 points to close at 295.50. Intel Corporation (NASDAQ: ) declined 5.61% or 1.55 points to end at 26.06. For its part, 3M Company (NYSE: ) declined 3.31% or 3.74 points to trade at 109.25.
The S&P 500 index outperformed General Mills Inc (NYSE: ) gained 4.42% to trade at 80.16, Organon & Co (NYSE: ) rose 3.94% to 27.05 and Molson Coors Brewing Co Class B (NYSE: ) rose 3.13% to close at 53.65.
Poor performance values Generic Holdings Inc (NYSE: ) fell 8.72% to close at 115.72, Dish Network Corporation (NASDAQ: ) lost 8.62% to 12.93, while Home Depot Inc (NYSE: ) lost 7.06% to 295.50.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite Index went to Atlas Lithium Corp (NASDAQ: ), which gained 51.52% to trade at 10.94. Meihua International Medicine Technologies Co Ltd (NASDAQ: ) surged 49.94% to 39.00 and Arbe Robotics Ltd (NASDAQ: ) rose 47.13% to 6.40.
Poor performance values CVRx Inc (NASDAQ: ) fell 58.84% to close at 7.08, Aileron Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ: ) which lost 37.77% to 1.46 and TC BioPharm Holdings PLC (NASDAQ: ), fell 32.62% to close at 5.02.
Falling stocks outnumbered rising ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2688, 379 and 58 flat; On the NASDAQ, 3026 stocks fell, 691 rose, and 146 were unchanged.
DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ:) fell 8.62% or 1.22 points to a new low of 12.93. Shares of Meihua International Medical Technologies Co Ltd (NASDAQ:) soared 49.94% or 12.99 points to hit an all-time high of 39.00. Shares of Aileron Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ: ) closed at 1.46 after declining 37.77% or 0.89 points to hit an all-time low.
An index measuring the implied volatility of S&P 500 options rose 7.72% to 22.87, a new one-month high.
On the other hand, gold for April delivery was down 0.35% or 6.45 points at $1.00 per troy ounce. Among other commodities, crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.51% or 0.39 points to settle at $76.16 a barrel, while Brent for delivery in April lost 1.47% or 1.24 points to settle at $82.83 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.35% at 1.06 and USD/JPY was up 0.56% at 134.99.
The US dollar index rose 0.34% to 104.14.
