Three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka was unimpressed by Holger Ron’s antics during the Paris Masters match and asked the Dane to ‘stop acting like a kid’
In the first round of the Paris Masters, Ron saved three match points to defeat Wawrinka 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (3). During the post-match handshake, Wawrinka had a very direct message to Ron.
“I advise you to stop acting like a baby on the playground,” Wawrinka told Ron.
Wawrinka is not the first player to face Ron.
After losing to Ruud in the French Open quarter-finals, Ron gave Norway a very cold handshake.
But the controversy did not end there as there could have been more tension after the match ended. After the match, Ron said Rod approached him and shouted “Yes.”
When asked about Ron’s claims, Rudd said it was an outright lie.
“No, what he says is wrong,” Rudd told Eurosport Norway.
“What he’s saying isn’t what really happened. We were in the dressing room after the game, and obviously a huge dressing room. There are a lot of players, so we were all in our part of the room.
I took an ice bath, ate pizza, and listened to music before going home. While Holger sat in his part of the locker room. The way he came up with the story of me screaming “yes” in his face is a lie.
It never happened. It’s a big lie. It’s disappointing that he creates lies about me. For me, it doesn’t matter that he thinks I’m a player who doesn’t respect the rules of fair play, that’s not what really matters.
This is his personal opinion, but spreading lies about me in this way is not acceptable. I really hope this is the last time he does something like this.”
