Sony has announced new Mini-LED and LED TVs for 2023

Sony has just lifted the veil on its new TV series featuring an LED backlight system. Here are the details of the X95L (Mini-LED), X90L, X85L (Full Array LED), X80L, and X75WL (LED).

Sony has unveiled a range of LCD TVs including the X95L (Mini-LED), X90L (Full Array LED), X85L (Full Array LED), X80L (LED) and X75WL (LED), all of which offer Ultra HD resolution. The aluminum frame is designed with three leg placement options: centered, spread out, or raised to hold a sound bar below without obstruction from the infrared emitter.

The X95L series uses a Mini-LED backlight panel, as well as a Sony XR processor with image optimization and processing technologies such as XR Backlight Master Drive, XR Contrast Booster 20, XR Triluminos Pro, XR Motion Clarity, XR Clear Image, and XR Upgrade. Sony X95L TVs are compatible with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, as well as the IMAX format optimized for the BRAVIA Core platform.

Like all the new series, we’re taking advantage of Google TV with voice assistants and the Crunchyroll animation streaming service, and it includes a new dashboard to manage power consumption. Sony also offers an app to rearrange the channel numbering. This year, Sony introduces a game bar that displays various information about the signal and offers several options for adjusting the image quality. Still for the gaming part, there are two HDMI 2.1 inputs, one of which is eARC compatible. It supports Ultra HD signals at 120 frames per second and VRR and ALLM video game optimization technologies.

Sony X90L and X85L with full array LED backlighting

Sony X90L series TVs are equipped with LED backlight technology distributed over the entire surface of the panel (called Full Array LED). It is available in five different screen sizes: 55, 65, 75, 85 and 98 inches, with three leg placement options to fit the cabinet width and desired screen height, allowing a speaker to be installed in the front. The series integrates the Sony XR chip with several image enhancement technologies, such as XR Contrast Booster 10, XR Triluminos, XR Motion Clarity, XR Clear Image, and XR Upscaling.

It is powered by Google TV with voice assistants and an eco-friendly dashboard. Televisions in this series are compatible with streaming platforms, including Crunchyroll, which make use of a dedicated button on the remote control. It also features a Game Bar display and two HDMI 2.1 inputs, one of which is compatible with VRR and ALLM technologies. The X90L series TVs are also compatible with the Dolby Atmos audio format and the Dolby Vision picture format, as well as the IMAX Enhanced format.

The X85L series will be available in three sizes: 55, 65 and 75 inches. Monitor feet can be placed either centered or apart. This series uses a Full Array LED backlight panel, just like the X90L series, but with a less powerful image enhancement processor, the Sony X1. It still offers Triluminos Pro, X-Reality Pro, and X-Motion Clarity technologies. X85L TVs are compatible with the Dolby Atmos picture and sound format. It is also hosted by Google TV, providing access to streaming platforms, including Crunchyroll, as well as voice assistants.

The X80L and X75WL series with LED backlights are the most affordable in 2023

The Sony X80L TV series has similar features to the X85L series, but it lacks motion smoothness improvement. It uses LED backlighting with Triluminos Pro technology to enhance colors. This series is available in different sizes ranging from 43, 50, 55, 65, 75 and 85 inches.

The 43- and 50-inch models come with splayed legs, while the larger sizes offer two possible positions. The series is compatible with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos and includes a Game Bar. It is powered by Google TV, with access to the same platforms as other 2023 models, including Crunchyroll and Eco Dashboard. TV Series Sony X80L will be available in March Prices not yet announced.

Finally, Sony also introduces a final series of TVs, the X75WL. This range is available in several sizes from 43 to 75 inches and uses LED backlighting with live color image processing. It has a Sony X1 chip for upscaling non-Ultra HD content and is compatible with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos formats.

It is powered by Google TV with access to various streaming platforms such as BRAVIA Core and Crunchyroll, and also has a game bar, dashboard, and voice assistants. X75WL series models will be available in June For prices not yet reported.
