Canada’s Rebecca Marino did not last long in the Australian Open main draw.
On Tuesday, the 143rd seed lost 6-1, 6-3 in straight sets to Mary Boskova of the Czech Republic in the first round. The 86th-ranked player on the world chessboard won in 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Usually retreating against the wall, Marino saved eight of the twelve break points his opponent had purchased. The latter is correct in both cases where the Canadian has to take his service.
