Quint Fonsegraves. Walking on the banks of Saune

In Quint-Fonsegrives, the banks of the Saune are the perfect place to find peace and quiet near the village and less than 5 km from the entrance to Toulouse. The little river at Vaux originates in the heart of Laurages and, after meandering through the fields and meadows of the green valley that bears its name, crosses a distance of about 5 kilometers (from the Quint Bridge to the Ribot Bridge) south of the city, separating it from its neighbour, Saint-Orens-de-Gameville, before It flows to Hers in the town of Balma. In 2009, on the occasion of the World Year of Astronomy, the municipality, in cooperation with the Department of Astronomy in the Rural Center, laid a 2 km corridor, along which a representation of the Solar System was carried out. Thus the panels indicating the name of the planets were superimposed with the “technical sheet” at regular intervals: the Sun, Earth, Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter, Venus, and the asteroid belt. On this route, called the Path of the Planets, well known to sports fans, the famous Balade de la Saune is held every year, which attracts hundreds of participants.

Unusual encounters

These banks, along which picnic benches and tables are set up, as well as giant bars and bridges for sports enthusiasts wanting to do some stretching, also attract many walkers and nature lovers. They are also used by cyclists, but you can sometimes meet unusual people there, depending on the times and seasons: rabbits, hare, wild boar, deer, and sometimes some stray dogs! A path along the river (where today very little water flows), well shaded and very interesting in this summer period. We walk along Salsas Farm in Quint, the Municipal Sports Grounds, and have a beautiful view of Elisabeth Badinter College and Quint Hill, with the splendid Saint-Pierre Church. An easy and practical outing for everyone!
