Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson about Russia’s illegal occupation of Ukraine’s territorial sovereignty.
Prime Minister Trudeau has strongly condemned Russia’s massive military aggression against Ukraine’s regional integrity, sovereignty and independence. Both leaders stressed that Russia’s actions threaten peace and order in Europe and around the world, and are a serious violation of international law and will not be tolerated.
Prime Minister Trudeau and Prime Minister Johnson praised the heroic efforts and sacrifices of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the people and pledged further support to them. The leaders discussed the harsh sanctions imposed on those in Russia who were directly responsible for the tragedy. They stressed the importance of maintaining unity among allies and partners and their continued support for Ukraine.
Prime Minister Trudeau and Prime Minister Johnson agreed to continue efforts to work closely with allies and partners to impose higher costs on Russia.
