Pictures of Auston Matthews during the match between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Philadelphia Flyers on Wednesday night sparked a lot of criticism of him on social media.
Matthews traded a few hits with Travis Konicney and when the latter wanted to throw the gloves on, several Maple Leafs rushed to defend their star.
The problem is, Matthews watched them, barely lifting a finger. A sequence that made Tony Marinaro react on Thursday during the Le Colisée segment of the show GC.
“Do I want Auston Matthews to get into the fight? No, that’s true yet. But when others are there to protect him, including a veteran like Mark Giordano, he doesn’t even want to take a man into battle… He looks down and smiles.” The other guys punch each other in the face and smile. That’s not driving.”
