Philip Mesar and his magical hands are having fun at Rocket Camp

Philip Mesar and his magical hands are having fun at Rocket Camp

In recent days, Philippe Messar has been cut off from the Montreal Canadiens camp. Thus, the first-round team selection in the last draft went to Laval, where he currently attends Rocket Camp.

CH also had the option of sending him to Kitchener, at OHL, since his rights belonged to the Rangers. But we wanted to give him the chance to show what he had at Laval before making the decision to bring him back to the junior ranks.

The main interested party wants to play at Laval. He believes that it will be better for his development to play this season in the MLS, having played with men in the Slovak First Division for the past two years.

But, nothing has been played at the moment in his case.

Rocket coach Jean-Francois Houlle told the media this morning that if Messar does indeed stay with the club, it is because he will be lucky enough to have plenty of playing time.

We want him to touch the disc as much as possible to help his development, he who describes himself as a versatile player who loves to control the disc.

We agree on one thing: if a young man starts at Laval and is transferred to a third or fourth streak, his development will be affected.

If the youngster is sent to Kitchener and takes over OHL this year, his development may suffer…but he’s good.

This is the dilemma now.

But in the meantime, there’s nothing stopping Mesar from having fun at Camp Rocket… and that’s exactly what he seems to be doing.

This morning in training, Mesar pulled his hands on Sunday and went with a trick you don’t see often. It reminds me a lot of the similar goal that Pavel Datsyuk scored a few years ago.

We know Philippe Messar has hands. Not for nothingA scout claimed in early September that he had the skills of Alex Kovalev.

Do I need to remind you of that streak in a game against the Leafs, where he stripped the defender completely before creating a scoring opportunity?

Now, we can’t help but wait to see what decisions will be made about it. He knows what he has to do to find a job with the Rocket and it’s up to him.

And if he stays at Laval (where he should play the quarterback)… why not pair up with his great friend, Juraj Slavkovsky, if the latter starts the season with the Rocket?
