Outage Management: Balarama Holness Accuses Hydro-Québec of Neglecting West Island

The power outage caused by the ice storm has affected many sectors, especially in Montreal, and Hydro-Quebec is working hard to restore power to all of its customers, but now the English-speaking political figure, Balarama Holness, is accusing the state corporation of neglecting the West Island.

“I am troubled by the fact that Hydro-Quebec has not yet provided support to the West Island. It is important that they address this issue and provide an explanation,” he wrote in a tweet, accompanied by a photo of a map of Hydro-Quebec that only shows the situation in West Montreal.

Soon, people began responding on Twitter, noting that other sectors were also affected by outages, reminding that Crown prioritizes outages that affect a large number of customers.

In addition, it should be noted that sectors with more vegetation were affected by the outage, which may explain why work progressed more slowly in the western part of the island than elsewhere.

“No sector has been forgotten. The west of the island has not been forgotten,” said Maxence Howard Lefebvre, a spokesperson for Hydro-Québec.
