On what day are you most likely to have a heart attack?

Severe heart attacks can occur on any occasion, but are most likely to occur on a Monday, an Irish study reported daily Mail.

Doctors from the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and the Royal College of Surgeons analyzed data from around 10,500 patients across Ireland and a further 3,400 in Northern Ireland to come to this conclusion.

The patients in question were hospitalized between 2013 and 2018 for severe acute myocardial infarction (STEMI), the most serious category of heart attack.

However, the researchers confirmed that the number of myocardial infarctions caused by ST-segment elevation was greater at the beginning of the week and especially on Mondays.

Without being able to confirm this beyond a reasonable doubt, the scientists suggest that the increase in the level of stress due to returning to work may be questionable.

The research director, cardiologist Jacques Lavan, says the phenomenon of “Heart Attack Monday” can be observed throughout the West.

“We know that heart attacks are more likely in the winter and in the early morning,” says Dr. Levan.
