Démolition de l’ancien IGA pour faire place à une Maison des aînés

Old IGA demolished to make way for old people’s home

An important step begins today, as those responsible for the Maison des Seniors et Maison Alternative de Victoriaville project demolish the building formerly occupied by Sobey’s (IGA) located at 325, boulevard des Bois-Francs. North (the back of the building overlooking Douma Street).

The work will be carried out from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday. To reduce inconveniences, work likely to generate dust will be irrigated. In addition, the land will be fenced to ensure the safety of workers and citizens.

When the demolition work is completed, construction of the new senior’s home and replacement home can begin and should take place over the course of a full year. The first residents are scheduled to be received in the fall of 2022.

Senior Home and Alternative Home in Victoriaville

The Seniors’ House and Alternative House will provide 72 places in Victoriaville, including 60 to support senior independence and 12 alternative places for people with a disability due to a physical disability, intellectual disability or autism spectrum disorder.

New Seniors Homes and Alternative Homes projects aim to develop accommodations for residents while respecting the concept of a good living environment. The development favors the construction of small, independent buildings called “homes” with 12 private rooms and their designated common areas, organized around outdoor spaces.
