Obernai. The outdoor pool and pentangles of the water area will reopen on Saturday

What are the swimming hours?

This is the main novelty this year: The two swimming pools in Obernai will open at the exact same time, “for the clarity of information for the public,” explains Fiona Zamolo, Deputy Director.

The outdoor swimming pool on the Route de Boersch and the L’O water district will be open Monday through Friday from 10 am to 8 pm, and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 9 am to 7 pm. Closing has been suspended at the midday hour set up since January on weekends at L’O for the summer.

The outdoor pool will be open in total for a little over three months. That’s slightly less than last year (it opened in mid-May, but with shorter hours during the week) but more than it was in 2020, when Covid pressed for a delay in opening in July.

Please note that the outdoor pool opening has been extended until Sunday 11 September in order to keep the pool open during the annual closing of the L’O Water Park maintenance, the week of 5 September.

When will the Pentacles and Fun Pools be accessed?

Pentagals in the Water District reopen on Saturdays, 11am-7pm, initially only on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Then continuously during school holidays.

The Fun Pools that were closed at the beginning of the year will remain open during the school holidays. For this June, they are open Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays all day, as is the outdoor pool.

L’O management also advertises swimming courses from July 11th, Monday through Friday, from 4 years old.

Will there be enough staff?

The swimming pool has a recurring problem with staffing, as do many establishments elsewhere in France. “Fortunately, in the summer, we count on promoting students with the National Water Rescue and Safety Certification. Our workforce has doubled during this period,” explains Fiona Zamolo.

The aquatic district currently employs about twenty lifeguards, but the equivalent of 13 full-time. The Vice Principal is looking to bring in someone else, so she has “a place in case of downtime.”

In the event of a staffing problem, the decision to prefer one group or the other will be made according to the weather.

What are the prices?

Prices for two swimming pools will increase from July. In the outdoor pool, admission for adults, which is currently €4.50, increases by a dime, as does admission for children. In the water area, admission for adults ranges from 6€ to 6.30€.
