NHL: TJ Oshie and Drake Batherson at the heart of an offensive fest won 7-5 capitals

Alex Ovechkin scored his sixth and seventh goals of the season, and the Washington Capitals won an offensive fest against the Ottawa Senators 7-5 on Monday night.

TJ Oshie fared better than his veteran teammate by scoring his fifth career hat-trick in the Caps win.

After receiving the first goal in the match, Washington scored four goals in a row. John Carlson goalkeeper Anton Forsberg is eliminated from the match and is replaced by Philip Gustafsson.

The trplet Oshie wasn’t the only one in the game; Drake Paterson also scored three goals in the match, the second, third and fourth of the campaign.

As his team trailed 6-4 early in the third inning, Patterson closed the difference to 6:32. But Ovechkin gave his team a two-goal priority to make the match unattainable.

This was the Capitals’ first away game against a Canadian club since February 27, 2020.

Ilya Samsonov made 32 saves in his victory.

Ovechkin now has 737 goals in the NHL, making him 157 more than the all-time record (894) set by Wayne Gretzky.
